More stream of consciousness

It's just because I'm too lazy to post photos right now.

1) Remember that baby sweater I made for my younger niece? The one that I frogged and re-knit because I thought it was too small? Well, it ended up being too big for her, so her older sister is wearing it for now. It may be time for me to invest in life-size dolls corresponding to various baby/toddler ages...

2) The Embossed Leaves socks are finished! I started Anastasia socks about a week ago. The pattern is simple, but I keep forgetting yarnovers and not noticing until about 6, or 10, or 20 rows later. So far I've knitted about 0.75 sock's worth of sock but only have half a sock to show for it.

3) (Shameless plug alert!) For any of you living in or around Seattle, Orchestra Seattle and the Seattle Chamber Singers (with whom I sing) are performing Benjamin Britten's War Requiem on Sunday, Feb 10, at 3 pm in Meany Hall on the University of Washington campus. Details are available here.

4) I did a Discworld quiz and apparently I need to add bananas to the shopping list.

Which Discworld Character are you like (with pics)

You scored as The Librarian

You're the Librarian! Once a wizard, now an Orang-utan (due to an unfortunate magical accident), you refuse to be turned back for a few reasons: In this form, it's easier to reach the shelves and hold more books; having the strength of five men makes people return their books on time; life's great philosophical questions boil down to "when do I get my next banana?" You say "ook" but are usually understood well enough.

Friday randomness

Item one (belated): Hooray! I won a blog contest! Thank you Kristen!

Item two: But I'll have to be careful with the yarn lest I end up as yet another grim statistic:

(Check xkcd for the original)

Item three: I finally remembered to take a photo of my Embossed Leaves socks in progress.

Pattern: Embossed Leaves socks by Mona Schmidt, from Favorite Socks.
Yarn: Claudia Hand Painted sock yarn in the Moss colourway
Modifications: I did what I think is some sort of eye of partridge heel instead of the pattern's stockinette-plus-garter-edges. Also, my gauge is loose, so I need to rip back the completed sock so there are 6.5 instead of 7 repeats, then fiddle with the toe pattern to compensate.

Item four: I caught a glimpse of the cats coexisting peacefully.

Unfortunately it ended seconds later when Claude bit Chester and Chester retaliated in spades. Oh well.

Item five: It's rained in Vancouver on my last 3.95 visits there, but last weekend the sun stayed out for long enough for me to get this photo:
